Friday 2th. Jan

6  sleeps to go and today a friend was threatened in the vets waiting room in Milford, I thought mixing with the low life in Dallas could be risky for health but it is the same here. (Perhaps not so many men with guns tho') Now my hearts fluttering a bit being away from Maggie again so soon, and all the plans a bit fluid at the moment. 
Basically the fellas and meself get totally indulgent and satisfy a long held itch to see the places that have given birth to the fabulous music of the American 20th. century that we have all grown up with. Ken Colyer enlisted as a merchant sailor on cargo ship and jumped when the reached N.O. in the 1950's and I always wanted to follow him that way.

We are hiring a huge R.V. (what I call a motorhome) in Dallas taking the '2 lane blacktops' when possible East to Memphis, then North East to Nashville before swinging South to New Orleans for the biggest party in the world Mardi Gras in New Orleans! How amazing is that!! I thought I would never see Beale Street or the French Quarter and Preservation Hall but if we survive the journey, that is where we will be on Fat Tuesday. I have started to pack the case but always forget something i really needed and bring stuff that I wish I hadn't.

9 Days to go

Today i got the suitcase down from the top of the wardrobe and downloaded the pics from my camera as the day of departure draws near. I hope to keep family and friends informed on the epic trip across the Southern States of America undertaken by Scott and Miles (Sons) and myself (DD)
Maggie and I will head east to Stroud next Tuesday to meet up with the sons and carry on to Lunun' on Wednesday.
