Flying

Thursday 2nd. February
A full day of travelling starting early from Emily's flat in the heart of London to Dallas and then another short flight to Austin Texas. It was quite a culture shock to arrive at the San Jose Hotel in cloudy but warm Austin. It took a long time to get through the immigration control, especially for Scott who was kept longer than the rest of us and caused me some worry that he would not get through in time to catch the connecting flight but he eventually got through and we caught the connection. After a stroll along South Congress avenue. passsing many small sandwich trucks and stalls selling jewllery and hats etc, we ate in loud and busy Mexican place called Guerros which was very nice food but such large platefulls none of us could finish the portions. We strolled up and down with all the shops open at 10 in the evening, but just as we were entering the Continental club to catch some music I realised I had left my wallet in the restaurant. Happily it was still there when I turned up breathlessly looking for it.
We met two ladies in the club who became a little over friendly and so we finally called it a night and now I have to listen to Miles snoring loudly all night.

The San Jose is a very modern bungalow type with lots of shrubs along the gravel paths on Congress Avenue which is a great area within walking distance of downtown Austin. We have a great room very near the pool, with huge tv, radio and an easy rider and Muddy Waters poster on the wall. We will be staying here til Sunday and enjoying the ambience and music scene which is awesome!
